Pella Contractor Certification Levels Explained

When you are hiring someone to install Pella windows or doors in your home, you will likely come across terms like "Certified Contractor," "Platinum Elite," or "Platinum Premier." These are not just marketing labels. They represent a formal, multi-tier certification program that Pella uses to evaluate and rank the contractors authorized to install their products.

Understanding the difference between these levels helps you make a smarter hiring decision. Not all Pella contractors are created equal.

The Pella Certified Contractor Program

Pella's contractor certification program evaluates installers across the country on product knowledge, installation quality, customer satisfaction, business practices, and ongoing training. Contractors are assigned to one of five tiers based on how they perform against those standards.

Here is the critical context: even reaching the entry level of Pella certification puts a contractor in an exclusive group. Fewer than 5% of all contractors nationwide achieve any level of Pella certification. The higher tiers represent a smaller and smaller group, and the top tier is available only in select markets.

The Five Pella Certification Levels

From entry level to the top of the program, here is what each tier means and what contractors at that level receive from Pella:

Tier 1: Approved

The Approved level is the entry point into the Pella Certified Contractor program. Contractors at this level have established a relationship with Pella and meet the minimum annual purchase threshold to participate. Approved contractors receive access to Pella sales tools, homeowner financing options, leads and lead services, marketing incentive funds, and advertising templates. This designation signals that a contractor is working with Pella, not that they have been evaluated for quality or expertise.

Tier 2: Certified

The Certified level is the first full certification tier. These contractors have completed Pella's background check and insurance verification, met local licensing and employment requirements, and passed an annual certification training course and local installation audit. Fewer than 5% of contractors in the United States reach this level.

In addition to everything in the Approved level, Certified contractors receive the Pella Certified Contractor logo, improved homeowner finance rates, a Pella.com profile listing, eligibility for co-op marketing funds, Pella-promoted homeowner ads and leads, and access to exclusive Certified Contractor training programs.

Tier 3: Platinum

The Platinum level represents a significant step up from basic certification, with deeper product expertise, more extensive installation experience, and higher customer satisfaction benchmarks. Contractors at this level have demonstrated sustained performance, not just initial qualification.

Platinum contractors receive everything in the Certified level plus the Pella Platinum Contractor logo, greater discounts from Pella program affiliates, an enhanced Pella.com profile, increased co-op and marketing funds, an invitation to the exclusive Platinum Summit, eligibility for the National Annual Pella Award, and access to the Platinum installation warranty.

Tier 4: Platinum Elite

The Platinum Elite designation is awarded to contractors who have excelled at the Platinum level and continued to distinguish themselves through performance. This is a genuinely rare group, representing a fraction of the already-selective Platinum tier. Contractors here have a long-term track record of exceptional installation quality and customer satisfaction.

Platinum Elite contractors receive everything in the Platinum level plus the Pella Platinum Elite Contractor logo, even greater discounts from program affiliates, an optimized Pella.com profile, further increased co-op and marketing funds, an invitation to the exclusive Platinum Summit, and a discounted Platinum Summit registration.

Tier 5: Platinum Premier (The Highest Level)

Platinum Premier is the highest certification level in the Pella Certified Contractor program. It is available only in select markets nationwide, and only to contractors who have demonstrated the highest level of performance across every dimension Pella evaluates.

Platinum Premier contractors receive the full benefits of every prior level, plus the Pella Platinum Premier Contractor logo, the best affiliate discounts available in the program, a best-in-class Pella.com profile, the highest co-op and marketing funds Pella offers, a complimentary Platinum Summit, eligibility for beta programs, Premier-endorsed materials, and an annual strategic business review conducted directly with Pella.

This designation is not something you can apply for or buy. It is awarded based on sustained, documented performance over years of work, and it is re-evaluated on an ongoing basis. Contractors who hold it are among the most trusted Pella installers in the country.

B.W. Construction & Home Improvement holds the Pella Platinum Premier Contractor designation. We are the only contractor in the state of Illinois to hold this status.
